Storm Prediction:

A new artist book by Katie Baldwin

In Mexico I tried to follow the international news by reading the newspaper La Jornada each morning. You can imagine how difficult this was for me considering I was just learning Sapnish. I understood general information about events, buy did not understand the details. I wasn’t exactly sure what was going on in the world. But at night I dreamt of birds, and I knew that things were going wrong everywhere, a storm was inevitable. In the 1700’s a sailor believed that a dream of birds predicted a storm.
I created the images and carved the 26 wioodblocks for this book while traveling in Mexico. The images are printed on Nideggen paper and bound in an edition of fifteen in Philadelphia, PA. A book can be ppurchased for $400.
